Col. John Covington Dalton Funeral services for Colonel John C. Dalton will be held in the Chapel of Rader Funeral Home of Longview on Monday, January 4, 2021 at 10am. A viewing will be held on Sunday after 12pm at the Funeral Hom Read Obituary
Uncle John was a sweet soul with a great laugh. I’ll always remember when he would play music with Aunt Barbara in their home and the joy they shared through music. We will miss you.
Remembering John and B. J. hosting Martin Batts Sunday School class at John's camp and such a warm gathering of church family. Remembering John and B.J.'s love of music and how they entertained us so beautifully that night. Remembering John's love for his country and his service to America. Remembering John's friendly smiles and hellos at church. Remembering John's courage and perservance as he went through difficult trials the past few years. His strength, his determination and his story encourages, lifts, and gives hope to others. All of us who knew John are better people for having known him. My deepest sympathy to B.J and to John's family.

I loved every minute of time spent with uncle John. We fished, played in the surf at Wrightsville, sang (he was pickin’, I was singin’), family reunions and swimming pools, and eating Frosted Flakes with homemade vanilla ice cream for breakfast! He was a true hero and gentleman. Catch some big ones up there with Dad and Grandad!
A man of dignity, integrity, respect and honor, John genuinely embraced the gift of life and His bride Barbara with exceptional devotion, humbleness and tender love. He will eternally remain in the hearts of the many he touched as a kindhearted, sincere, blessing.
I miss my uncle tremendously. He was a big influence on me growing up. He introduced me to the comedy of Lewis Grizzard, shared an appreciation of the Gatlin Brother's music, taught me how to use the word "peewokidoo" in reference to golf, how to bass fish Toledo Bend in a lightening storm- and do quite well I might add, and countless other aspects of life. Rest in peace, and most of all, thanks for serving our country! Clark Dalton
