JOHN COLEMAN JAMESON
?To God Be the Glory?? The Jameson Family rejoices at the home-going of their beloved husband, father, brother, uncle, cousin, grandfather and great-grandfather, John Coleman Jameson. Funeral services for John Jameson, 90, will be Saturday, May 12, 2007, 2:00 p.m. at Mobberly Baptist Church, Longview with pastor and long-time friend, Dr. Laney Johnson, officiating. Interment will follow at Lakeview Memorial Gardens. Family visitation is scheduled Friday, May 11, 2007, 6-8:00 p.m. at Rader Funeral Home - Longview.
The oldest of five children, John was born to Henry Chester and Myrtle Dovie Mullins Jameson on October 27, 1916 in Stuttgart, Arkansas. He graduated from Prairie Point School Prairie Valley and attended North Texas Agricultural College now UTA-Arlington. Mr. Jameson served as a volunteer fireman for Grand Prairie during his early years. Working at North American Aviation, Grand Prairie from 1941?1945, Mr. Jameson was drafted into the Army Air Force. Following conclusion of basic training at Shepherd Air Force Base-Wichita Falls, John was assigned to Squadron 8, 353rd Army Air Force serving his country as a Corporal at Esler Field, Alexandria, LA until his discharge at Ft. Bliss, El Paso in late 1946.
John returned to civilian life as an employee of R.G. LeTourneau Marathon LeTourneau. Following 38 years of faithful employment, Mr. Jameson retired as Foreman of the Tool and Die Department.
John Jameson passionately loved his Lord and Savior, serving Him with faithfulness and obedience. He was an active deacon at Mobberly Baptist Church since 1947. Additionally, he worked on the Teller Committee for the church for 59 years. John was a Master Mason in Good Standing for over 60 years, most recently at the Grand Lodge of Texas, Pine Tree No. 1396. John Jameson will be remembered for his genuine and gentle nature. His selfless generosity ensured he habitually thought of others and how he might serve them. Mr. Jameson was an avid outdoorsman enjoying hunting, fishing, gardening and yard work. He especially enjoyed loving his grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Preceding Mr. Jameson to Heaven were both parents; granddaughter, Rhea Sanders; brother-in-law, Victor Morton; and brother/sister-in-law, Dr. Charles and Jean Hurlburt.
Mr. Jameson is survived by his wife of 68 years, Sarah Ruth Nutting Jameson; sons, David Coleman Jameson, Longview; John Michael and wife, Jamie Jameson, White Oak; daughters, Frances Lynne and husband, Artie Sanders, Midlothian and Marjorie Ann and husband, Les Miller, Tyler; sister, Ida Mae Morton, Weatherford; brothers, Malvy and wife, Lu Jameson, Austin; Charles Lee Jameson, Arkadelphia, AR; Chet and wife, Ednita Jameson, Raleigh, NC; brother/sister-in-law, Dr. Rice and Eloise Nutting, Louisville, KY; grandchildren, Gil and wife, Preet Sanders, Arlington; Jason Jameson, Longview; Jeff and wife, Katy Jameson, Paris; Jonathan and wife, Jennifer Jameson, Allen; Christy Eddington, Dewayne Jameson of White Oak; Angie and husband, Bryan Woolley, Tyler; Tonia Miller, Mesquite; Stephanie and husband, David Cobb, Irving; Mitzi and husband, Wes Hood, Houston; Ginger and husband, Blair Swaim, Tulsa, OK; 18 great grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Pallbearers will be grandsons: Jason, Jeff, Jonathan, and Dewayne Jameson; Bryan Woolley; Gil Sanders; David Cobb; Wes Hood; and Blair Swaim; honorary pallbearers will be the deacons of Mobberly Baptist Church. In lieu of flowers, remembrances in John Jameson?s memory may be made to Mobberly Baptist Church 625 E. Loop 281, Longview, TX 75605 or a charity of your choice.
