John W. Cassity's Obituary
Funeral services for John W. Cassity, 84, of Henderson will be held at 2:00pm Saturday September 22, 2018 in the Chapel of Rader Funeral Home of Henderson with Rev. Michael Cary officiating. Burial will follow at Rusk County Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be from 1:00pm to 2:00pm before the service.
Mr. Cassity was born October 18, 1933 in Beckville, TX to Oscar O. and Grace V. Cassity and passed away Thursday September 20, 2018 at UT Health in Henderson.
John was preceded in death by his parents, brother Joe Cassity and sister Virginia Bassett.
John was a meat cutter for 68 years, twenty of which were with Safeway and also worked with John McCarter and Richard Cain. He was a member of the Trinity Baptist Church and a veteran of the Korean Conflict where he served in the U.S. Army. He was a loving father and was known to his grandchildren as Popa.
Survivors include his wife of 63 years, Danny Cassity; his dog Millie; son, Andy Cassity and wife Kim of Olathe, KS; daughter, Susan Dorsett and husband David of
Midlothian, TX; grandchildren, Sarah Caroccio and
husband Chris of Houston, TX, William Dorsett of
Midlothian, TX, Grace Cassity of Olathe, KS; sisters, Diane Pope of Waxahachie, TX, Judy Watkins of New
Salem, TX and Mary Maurtizen of Clayton, TX. Also
surviving are twelve nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be Joel Watkins, Jerry Watkins, Keith Bassett, Gary Cassity, Dwayne Pope and Kenneth
Starling.
Memorial donations may be made to the Trinity Baptist Church of Henderson.
