John H Bowman's Obituary
After a brief battle with cancer, John H. Bowman Jr. exchanged his temporary life for an eternal one on April 7, 2014. John’s family will be receiving friends on 4/10, Thursday from 5 to 7 at Rader Funeral Home at 1617 Judson Road. The Memorial Service will be Friday 4/11 at 2:00 PM at Oakland Heights Baptist Church with graveside services following at Lakeview Memorial Cemetery. Pastor Butch Tanner of Oakland Heights will be conducting the services.
John was born to John and Versie Bowman in Longview on December 17, 1942. He was a graduate of Longview High School and soon after joined the United States Navy and served in Vietnam. After 4 ½ years in the Navy, John came back to Longview where he met Gloria Brumley and began to raise their family together. John worked for TXU for over 26 years at the Coal Mine near Beckham. He and Gloria were members of Oakland Heights Baptist Church and he loved the John Richardson Sunday School Class.
John was preceded in death by his parents John and Versie Bowman. He is survived by his wife Gloria, of 47 years, son Jeff and Elicia Bowman of Longview, Chris and Tina Bowman of Longview and five grandchildren, Beth, Becca, Joshua Shelton Davies, Joshua Wayne and Justin and one sister Virginia Ruth Cox and husband John of Midland. The family also wanted to express their love for Leta Grace as their adopted grandmother. Honorary Pallbearers will be the John Richardson Sunday School Class.
