John was a lifelong friend. We grew up playing alongside with my brother, David. Our farms were near each other. John and I rode the school bus together. We were in 4H together. He was on the baseball and basketball teams, and I was a cheerleader.
We went to church and MYF together. We attended all 12 years of school with each other. There were only 19 in our graduating class.
John was always charismatic even as a young boy.
I remember that he had a horse that I was a little afraid of.
We always kept in touch on our birthdays. He is 12 days older than me and let me know that when he first got his driver's license when he turned 16 before me. 12 days later, I got mine.
We literally did grow up together. Our families had dinners together while we played outside. John and my brother, David, built a treehouse in a tree in our barn lot, and girls(me) were not permitted to climb up and be with him.
I have so many memories of us growing up together.
I will always remember his booming voice and good, loving heart.
I will deeply miss you, John.
Love and sweet dreams with the angels.
