JOHN L. ?BUDDY? BARR
Services for John L. ?Buddy? Barr , 78, of Longview will be 2 PM Tuesday, July 29th at the Rader Funeral Home chapel with Rev. Mike Lindstrom and Ray Brooks officiating. Burial will be at Rosewood Park. Mr. Barr died Sunday morning at a local nursing facility.
He was born April 30, 1925 at Barry, Texas to James and Jesse Northcutt Barr. A resident of Longview since 1961, Mr. Barr was an accountant for the Internal Revenue Service and was a member of the Winterfield United Methodist Church. He served with the 82nd and 17th Airborne during World War II participating in the Battle of the Bulge at Lexembourg. Mr. Barr received two Purple Hearts, the Bronze Star, and several other service medals.
He is survived by his wife, Rubye of Longview; his daughters and sons-in-law, Nelda and Bill Oswalt of Longview and Jan and Bob Hopkins of Mt. Pleasant; grandchildren: Daniel Wesley Coy Oswalt, Kacey Lynne Barr Oswalt, and Alyssa Hopkins; special friends: John and Terri Worley , Grant and Wade Worley; brother, Robert Alan Barr of Bellingham, Washington; sister, Evelyn Wright of Dallas and several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home Monday evening 6 to 8 PM.
