Funeral services for John Alfred Iverson, 85, of Longview will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, Sept. 10, 2004 in the Chapel of Rader Funeral Home of Longview with the Reverend Mike Lindstrom and Dr. Al Birkelund officiating. Interment will be in Rosewood Park. He died Wed., Sept. 8, in a Longview hospital.
Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday, Sept., 10, at the funeral home.
Mr. Iverson was born December 29, 1918 in Big Spring, TX., to Alfred Oscar and Eula Mullican, and had been a resident of Longview since 1998, moving from Hobbs, N.M. , where he was a longtime resident. He was a WWII Veteran of the United States Navy and was in Pearl Harbor during the attack. He was a graduate of Texas Tech, where he earned both his Bachelor?s and Master?s degree. He retired in 1983 after 30 years of service with Continental Oil Co., in Ft. Worth, Wichita Falls, Houston, Hobbs, NM, and London, England. Mr. Iverson was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Hobbs, N.M., and faithfully attended the Winterfield United Methodist Church in Longview. He was also a member of the Masonic Lodge.
Mr. Iverson was preceded in death by his parents, sister Alice Iverson and brother Conrad Iverson.
Survivors include his wife of 56 years, Edna Iverson of Longview; brothers, B. G. ?Ike? Iverson of San Angelo, TX, and Iver B. Iverson of Bangor, ME; numerous nieces, nephews, and many dear friends.
