Joe Paul Warlick's Obituary
Joe Paul Warlick passed peacefully into the arms of Jesus on April 2, 2022. He was given the gift of human life but now gave it back in exchange for an eternity with the lord.
Joe was born July 6, 1939, to Walter "Bud" and Lillie O'Neal Warlick in Shreveport, LA. At an early age he accepted Jesus the Christ as his savior. Dad was an avid reader of the bible, science magazines and just about anything technical throughout his life.
Joe was a U.S. Army veteran and had a remarkable work ethic retiring from Lone Star Steel where he worked through many hot Texas summers while operating a furnace forging metals that were used by all the major American auto manufactures, oil fields throughout America, as well as for the mammoth Alaska oil pipeline in the 1970’s.
Dad enjoyed fishing, cars, good food and just simply driving the roads, he had a restless nature and could never sit still for long. He singlehandedly kept our family cars running, working on them after already working long days at his regular job. Many extended family and friends also benefited from his automotive expertise and willingness to always lend them a hand. Additionally, he loved to travel with our mother, and they completed multiple long drives to many states and cities across the country, well before the age of GPS. Once in Pensacola, FL they were exploring but could never actually find the beach, this event always made them laugh. However, that lack of locating Pensacola beach really didn’t matter because the open road and small towns of the south was what most interested them.
Dad came from a large family of six brothers and sisters. He is survived by his wife of 58 years Hilda Warlick. Out of their union came a beautiful host of children, grandchildren and great grandchildren that include daughter, Carolyn Warlick, son Jimmy Warlick, grandchildren, Brent Afzal, Shayne Afzal, Rachel Warlick, Kristin Afzal & Jenna Warlick, four great grandchildren, sister Katherine Festervan and many nieces and nephews.
Dad will be deeply missed, but we know this is only temporary and that he now knows a joy greater than our human minds can comprehend. Perhaps science is mistaken, and the stars in the night sky are not balls of gas, but instead millions of openings in the floors of heaven where the love of our departed shine through to let us know they are happy. We believe the words from the book of John 16:22 “Therefore you now have sorrow; but I will see you again and your heart will rejoice, and your joy no one will take from you”.
Dad expressly wanted a simple service, funeral services will be April 7, 2022, at 2 PM at The Hallsville Cemetery, 300 Willow St, Hallsville, TX 75650. Funeral arrangements are by Rader Funeral Home 1617 Judson Rd. Longview, Texas 75601.
