Joe L. Russell's Obituary
The Memorial Service for Joe L. Russell, 72, of Longview, Texas will be held at 1:30 P.M., Saturday February 16th, 2019 at Woodland Christian Church (2472 FM 1844, Longview, TX 75605). Pastor Robert Phillips will officiate the service. Joe Russell passed away on February 6, 2019. He was born June 27, 1946 in Goose Creek, Texas.
Joe served in the United States Navy during the Vietnam War as a cook. He was a sheet metal worker for 26 years, and helped to air condition the Longview Mall, Longview Regional Hospital, and Good Shepherd Hospital. He also helped to remodel the GM Plant in Shreveport, LA.
Joe eventually had to go on disability because of Frontal Temporal Degenerative Disorder. He enjoyed fixing things and always told people that it is was a 50/50 chance he would get it right.
Joe L. Russell is survived by his wife of 47 years, Jackie Russell. His children: Jason and wife Abigail Russell of Gilmer; Jennifer and her wife Angie Russell-Sawyer of Longview; Johnna and husband Carl Johnson of Gilmer. His grandchildren: Jacob and Megan Russell, and Alexander Johnson of Gilmer. His brothers: W.L. Russell of Burleson; David and wife Sylvia Russell of San Angelo. Preceded in death by his parents, Walter Leon and Rose Russell.
