Joe B. Carter's Obituary
Joseph Benjamin Carter, “Joe”, went to rest with the Lord on Friday, February 22, 2019, at the age of 74. Joe was born in Silsbee, Tx, to Reverend Fred Carter and Dodie Everleene Adkins Holmes. Joe was a resident of Silsbee, Beckville, and Laneville, TX. He was a dedicated employee of ONCOR/Texas Utilities for 22.5 years, before he became a licensed minister for 10.5 years, preaching the Gospel across Texas and Louisiana.
He is survived by his daughter, Vickie Jo Johnson, and Son in Law, Doyle Wayne Johnson, both of Baton Rouge, La; wife, Imelda Carter, of Laneville,TX; his sisters Iva Lee Allred Fruge, of Pasadena,TX, and Vurlene Murphy, of Abilene, TX. He is survived by his two granddaughters, Natalie Anne Johnson Keogh and spouse Ryan Keogh, and Kasey Leigh Johnson Ducote and spouse Charles Ducote, all natives of Baton Rouge, La. He is survived by numerous nieces and nephews and his five great grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his parents, and stepfather John Murphy Holmes; brothers Curtis Carter, Fred Carter Jr, Aubrey Carter, and sisters Agnes Carter, Louise Engle-Bonin, Racheal Jenkins-Roland, and Carol Ann Carter.
Graveside service will be held 10:00am Saturday, March 2, 2019, at Laneville Cemetery. Service will be conducted by his son in law Doyle Johnson.
As the apostle Paul wrote in 2 Corinthians 5:8 “We are confident, yes, well pleased rather to be absent from the body and to be present with the Lord”-something much greater awaits us after death.
