Joe Cashion was born December 20, 1911, Wortham, TX, Freestone County. He is preceded in death by his parents, 6 of his siblings and his wife, Elizabeth McIlveen of Fairfield, TX.He is survived by his children, Jenny and husband Jim Gearhart of Glen Rose, TX., Andrea and husband Haskell Newman of Georgetown, TX., and Joel Cashion. He is also survived by grandchildren, Haskell, Jr. and wife Kristy Newman of Longview, Amy and husband Rodney Nelson of Georgetown, TX., Jennifer and husband Connally of Glen Rose, TX. Step grandchildren and their children; John Gearhart, Sharon Spain and Mark Gearhart of the Dallas-Ft Worth and area.Survived by 5 Great-Grandchildren, Trey Newman, Madilynn Newman, Kaley Nelson, Ashley Nelson and Jackson Miller. Survived by one sister, Jenibel Blankenship of Livingston, Tx and 4 nieces; Bonnie Hawkins, Susan Beasley, Cydnie Geyer and Grace Shelheimer.He also leaves behind his sweetheart, Dot Burnett of Longview, Texas. For the past 6 years Dot has been a loving companion to Joe. Her devotion to him was goes beyond words. Joe raised his family in Pantego, Tx just outside of Arlington and lived there for 30 years. Joe was active in the community, serving as a City council member and on the volunteer fire department. He was recently recognized as a founder in the incorporation of the city of Pantego. He was a member and former elder of Pantego Bible Church.After Joe retired from Bell Helicopter in 1976, he and Elizabeth, moved from Pantego to Gilmer, Tx the same year. For many years he enjoyed raising cattle, building barns and riding his tractor on the land he purchased outside of town.Joe lived life to the fullest, enjoying many hours of dancing at senior citizen events around east Texas. He acquired many lasting friendships. He was always interested in the daily events in the lives of his loved ones. He dearly loved his children and grandchildren and will be missed. Family visitation at Radar Funeral Home, 1617 Judson Rd. Longview, Tx Sunday, February 12, 4:00 to 6:00 PMGraveside services will be 11:30 AM, Monday, Feb 13 at Wortham Cemetery, Wortham, TX with Rob Beasley officiating
