Mrs. Jo Ann Bartschmid Watson's Obituary
Jo Ann Bartschmid Watson of Longview, Texas passed away on Sunday, November 10 surrounded by her family at home. Born, June 22, 1934, in Hallsville, Texas to Eddie and Elsie, she enjoyed a life filled with family, friends and service to the Lord. She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 38 years, Arthur B. Watson. Retired from Killingsworth Oil Company, Jo Ann was known for helping people, her acts of kindness and her strong faith and dedication to the teachings of the Catholic Church. Many in the community benefitted from her spirit of volunteerism. She truly enjoyed helping others through her service at Meals on Wheels, St. Mary’s Catholic Church, The Holy Women of St. Mary’s, Longview Community Ministry, Catholic Daughters, Gabriel Project and Christian Ministry. She had a fun streak and loved to visit with her friends, playing mahjong, fishing or catching up on events of the day. An angel walking on Earth, she is now at peace from cancer.
Survivors include her son, Bruce E. Watson of Longview; daughter Mary Jo Iwan of Longview; grandson Brian Iwan and wife Christina of Austin, Texas.
Rosary Services will be at 6:00 p.m. on Friday, November 15, 2013 at Rader Funeral Home of Longview, a visitation will be held after the Rosary until 8 p.m. Funeral Services will be at St. Mary’s Catholic Church on Saturday, November 16, 2013 at 10 a.m. with Father Gavin Vaverek officiating. Interment will follow at Rosewood Park.
Donations instead of flowers may be made to St Jude’s Children’s Hospital or your favorite charity.
