Joan McKay Mickle's Obituary
Joan McKay Mickle of Garland, TX passed away on April 6, 2016. She was born in the Gum Springs Community to Charles and Jodie Reese on March 12, 1927. After her parents died, she was adopted and raised by her cousin Leata and husband Chester McKay. Joan graduated from Longview High School and attended TCU University before marrying W.R. “Bob “ Mickle in 1945. They had 3 children together, Jan, Lowell and Gaile. They were married for 50 years before Bob passed away in 1995. First and foremost, Joan’s life was her family. She loved them all deeply and was always there for them. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, her eldest daughter Jan Holloway and her three brothers, Charles, Billy Bob and Frank Reese. Joan is survived by her son Lowell Mickle; her daughter Gaile and husband Greg Farmer; her son-in-law Bob Holloway; her grandchildren Chris and wife Dani Mickle, Daniel and wife Tracy Mickle, Leata Holloway, Sara and husband Andy Graff and Emily Farmer; two great-grandsons Ethan Graff and Aidan Mickle; two step-granddaughters Gabrielle and Kristin Loehr and Kristin’s sons Harris and Gavin; she is also survived by her nieces and nephews and their families. Graveside Services will be at 12 pm, Saturday. April 9, 2016 at Gum Springs Cemetery in Longview, TX with the Dr. Raymond Boulter officiating. Arrangements are with Rader Funeral Home of Longview.
