Joan Maddox's Obituary
Funeral services for Frances Joan Maddox, age 78 of Henderson, will be held at 10:00am Wednesday, May 27, 2009 in the Chapel of Rader Funeral Home in Henderson, with the Re. Gene Kimbrell & Wayne Yandle officiating. Burial will follow in the Bridges Cemetery.
Mrs. Maddox passed away peacefully Saturday May 23, 2009 at home after and extended illness.
Mrs. Maddox was born in Panola, County on May 18, 1931, and was a long time resident of Henderson. She was the daughter of Mary McCrary & Clifton Cleburn Higginbotham, who preceded her in death in 1968 & 1933 respectivley. She was also preceded in death by her beloved husband of 33 years in 1981, Don Merle Maddox, her son Eddie Louis Maddox in 1988, brother, Claudie Floyd HughesNew Braunfels, five sisters Oree ArmstrongCarthage Juanita Waits Beckville, Mable Francis Henderson, Lena Fay Cauthorn Gainsville, and Mary Dell WallaceBeckville.
Mrs. Maddox was the co-founder of the International Outreach House of Prayer, which included House of Prayer Book Store, House of Prayer Church, and Hope Christian School. She was loved by many people, and was very active in church, and was a special Mother, Grandmother, Mother in-law, Sister, Sister-in-law, Aunt, and loved by many friends.
Survivors include one son, Donald Wayne Maddox & wife Evelyn Maddox of Henderson, one grandson raised as a son, Christopher Edward Maddox of Pine Hill, one daughter Wanda Sue Cunningham Shreveport, La, one sister Helen Kimbrell of Mesquite, and one brother –in-law Floyd W. Francis of Henderson. Five grandchildren; Candice Gamblin, Alicia Lowery, Dana Maddox, Shannon Cunningham, and Stacy Arthur. Seven great grandchildren: Taylor & Tori Gamblin, Haley Barrett, Bradyn Lowery, Kaitlyn Jayde, Kynli, Kohl Cunningham, and Lane Cole Arthur, plus many nieces and nephews who loved their Aunt Joan dearly.
Special thanks goes to Judy & Morris Williams, and caregivers Linda Kerley, Belinda Turlington, and Nancy Thomas.
Pallbearers will be Keith Armstrong, Glen Johns, Robert Lowery, Gene Mothershed, Jackie Harris, and Heath Underhill.
The family visitation will be from 6-8pm Tuesday night at the funeral home.
