To June, all the sons (including step-sons), daughters-in-law, grandchildren, and so many other family and friends who cared so much for our good neighbor, Jim. For several years after he and June moved to our neighborhood I didn't get to know Jim because he was working in other locations. However, after we had a chance to meet and invite him to join our American Legion Post, we learned what a wonderful man Jim was as a neighbor, friend, and fellow Legionnaire. By his own words, Jim had been proud to have served our country, and we were glad to have him as a member of our Post. He didn't do a lot, but he served when he could and frequently invited others to come with him to the meetings.
Most of the time he was quite, but he was not afraid to speak up when he had an idea or opinion to share. As neighbors we were amazed that he could continue mowing and doing other yard work even with the joint pain he had. He just didn't let the pain stop him. Jim was a good example of working through the pain and always sharing his wonderful smile. That's what I'll remember most--his smile. :-)
