Jimmy Ray McDonald's Obituary
Jimmy Ray McDonald age 77 of Hallsville, Texas passed away due to heart related issues on Monday June 20th, 2022. Jimmy was born to Wilbur and Elma Lois McDonald on June 10th, 1945, in Collinston, LA but was raised in Bastrop, LA.
He had seven sisters and six brothers. He was preceded in death by parents Wilbur and Elma Lois McDonald, sisters Cloteal Treshell, Ethel Mae McDonald, Peggy Hall, Darlene McDougal, Helen Marsh, and Linda Kay McDonald. Jimmy is also preceded in death by brothers Eugene McDonald, Wesley McDonald, and Earl McDonald, and daughter Penny Lynn McDonald.
He is survived by his sister Pauline Greenwood, brothers Benny McDonald, Doyle McDonald, and Ricky McDonald, and his wife Ginny McDonald. His daughter Wendy and her husband Chad Quinn, daughter Donna McDonald, and daughter Amy DeHart. Grandson Roman Quinn and his wife Jessica Quinn, granddaughter Hope Bullard and her fiancé Daniel Stewart, granddaughter Fanci Quinn and her fiancé Dillon Arnold, grandson Cason DeHart and the absolute favorite of all, Great Granddaughter Demi Reese Quinn. With thirteen siblings, Jimmy is also survived by several nieces and nephews who were very dear to him.
Jimmy married the love of his life, Virginia (Ginny) McDonald on November 16th, 1963. He loved his family with all his heart as they were his everything. Jimmy was a gentleman, a hard worker, and a jack of all trades. He could fix or build anything and loved helping and teaching others, especially his grandchildren.
His first job was at Bakers auto parts and he worked there for several years. He did carpentry for several years and went on to be one of the best millwrights in the East Texas area. As a millwright, he worked for Flour Daniels for over 30 years and retired from there as a general foreman in 2015.
His hobbies included spending time with his family, auto mechanics, hunting, fishing, and making music. Jimmy was a stand-up man with a cut-up character. He knew how to make everyone laugh and feel comfortable around him. He was always looking out for others and never hesitated to welcome someone into his home. Everyone that knew Jimmy loved him and knew that he was a kindhearted, God-fearing man who lived by the red letters of his bible. Over the years Jimmy has touched so many lives through his good deeds, kind nature, and mentorship.
He will be missed dearly by all that survived him but let them find peace in knowing he is with the good lord and all that preceded him in death.
