Services for Jimmy Glenn Day , 80, of Longview will be 10 AM Tuesday, July 21st at the Longview Church of Christ, 1401 Eden Dr. with Robert Johnson, Bennie Bristow, and Morgan Wilson officiating. Burial will follow at the Oak Lawn Cemetery in Center, Texas under the direction of Rader Funeral Home. Jimmy died Thursday, July 16th at a local medical facility.
He was born December 24, 1928 in Nacogdoches to Warwick and Ruth Wilson Day. A former resident of Marshall, Jimmy was a twenty-year resident of Longview. He received his education at Stephen F. Austin University and was a retired chemical engineer for Morton-Thiokol Co. Jimmy was a veteran of the United States Army. He was an avid golfer and a devoted husband, father, and grandfather. Jimmy was an active member of the Longview Church of Christ.
He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Janet Day of Longview; his sons and daughters-in-law, Glenn and Lynan Day of Longview, Gary and Jan Day of Longview, Bryan and Debbie Day of Wylie and Robert and Laurie Day of Kilgore; grandchildren, Garrett Day and wife, Rachel, Benjamin Day, Griffin Day, Jennifer Day, Hunter Day, Tyler Day, Jacob Mobbs, and Payton Day.
The family will receive friends at Rader Funeral Home Monday evening 6 to 8 pm.
Memorial donations may be made to the church library at the Longview Church of Christ, 1401 Eden Dr., Longview, TX 75605.
