Jimmie Dee Jerden's Obituary
Funeral services for Jimmie Dee Jerden, 94, of Longview will be held at 10 AM Friday, September 3, 2010 in the Chapel of Rader Funeral Home of Longview with David Ingram and Rodney Cox officiating. Burial will follow in Lakeview Cemetery in Longview. Mr. Jerden passed away Tuesday morning at his home. The family will receive friends Thursday evening from 6-8 PM at the funeral home.
Jimmie was born on June 20, 1916 in Union Grove, Texas to E.N. and Partheia Jerden. He proudly served his country during WWII from 1942 to 1946 as a medic. On July 7, 1943, he was married to the love of his life, Laura Jerden. Jimmie went to work for Southwestern Bell in 1946 and retired in 1982. He loved his telephone brothers and took great pride in his work. He has been a member of Alpine Church of Christ since 1957. He also loved working in his garden and yard.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and 6 brothers and sisters.
Those left to cherish his memory are his wife of 67 years, Laura Jerden; his daughter, Gail Smith; his grandson, Brian Smith and his wife Jessica; great granddaughter, Shelby Smith; great grandson, Brayden Smith; numerous nieces, nephews, telephone brethren and friends.
