Jimmie Dale Baird's Obituary
After a courageous battle with lymphoma and leukemia over the course of 9 years, Jimmie Dale was enveloped in the arms of the Lord on Tuesday evening at Baylor University Medical Center of Dallas. He was surrounded and cared for by his family and dear friends and passed in peace.
Jimmie was born on March 11, 1938 in Dover, Arkansas. He graduated from Longview High School in 1956 and was a graduate of Kilgore College. He proudly served in the U.S. Army during the Korean conflict. Following this, he continued to serve others as a member of the Longview School Board for 6 years. He was employed by Proctor and Gamble for 17 years.
Jimmie?s services to God and the church included a lifetime mem-bership in the Christian Church ?Disciples of Christ? as an Elder, chairman of multiple committees and an avid choir member.
Jimmie Dale touched the lives of so many people and loved nothing better than living life to its fullest extent while dedicating himself to serving and caring for others. His courage and beaming smile lifted spir-its and instilled hope in those he cared for at the Longview Cancer Center. The countless hours he spent caring for his ailing mother in her final years is yet another of the many wonderful contributions he made helping the lives of others and proving his unselfish love for those around him. He was an inspiration to us all and will be terribly missed.
He was preceded in death by his father, Dale Baird; mother, Jewel Baird; nephew, Jimmie Bryson; uncles, Reverend M. H. Baird and Bob Bryson.
