Jimmie Melton Brockwell's Obituary
Jimmie Brockwell, age 86, of Longview, TX, peacefully passed away on July 25, 2026.
He entered the world on November 8, 1939, in Los Angeles, California, born to the late Jimmie Brockwell, Sr. and Adelia Bolte. He was also raised and loved by his late stepfather, Seigfreid Bolte. He was preceded in death by his beloved sister, Barbara Brockwell and nephews Jodale Lee and Donny Lee.
In 1961, Jimmie married the love of his life, Carolyn Diller. Together, they shared a beautiful journey of 65 years, building a large, devoted family anchored by their four children. Jimmie proudly served his country in the United States Marine Reserves, earning an honorable discharge. Following his military service, he dedicated his life to providing for his family. He spent 25 years working hard as a boiler operator for El Paso Natural Gas. He later relocated to East Texas, where he continued his strong work ethic driving for Exide Batteries and serving his community as a security officer, along with a countless amount of side jobs. He often held two or three jobs just because of his abilities and talents.
Beyond his career and devotion to his family, Jimmie was a man of deep passion and immense talent. As an avid artist, he looked at the world with a creative eye. His beautiful paintings brought joy to many and earned him numerous awards and well-deserved recognitions over the years.
His rich legacy of love, hard work, and creativity lives on through his surviving family. He believed whole heartedly in God. He loved his Catholic faith. He loved his family dearly He is missed deeply by his wife, Carolyn; his four children and their families:
Larry Brockwell and his wife, Kim, along with granddaughters Ariel and Gracyn.
Wayne Brockwell and his wife, Billie, along with grandson Ethan, step-grandsons Tyler Horning and Alex Duncan, and forever step-grandsons Nicholas Rodriguez and Christian Rodriguez.
Lorelei Wiley and her husband, Doug, along with grandsons Austin Brockwell and Lance Jordan and his wife Sierra, step-grandsons Aaron Wiley and Austin Wiley, and Great granddaughters, Riley Jordan and Lavender Jordan.
Kimberly Maki and her husband, William Maki, along with grandson Elias Maki and granddaughter Merik Maki.
Jimmie struggled for several years fighting renal failure and dementia. The family would like monetary donations to the Jimmie Brockwell Art Scholarship. This scholarship will honor a deserving student to help them grow in their Studio Art studies. This scholarship will be linked shortly.
Friends and family will come together for a time of visitation and Rosary on Friday, August 28, 2026, from 6-8PM at Rader Funeral Home in Longview. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, August 29, 2026, at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Longview, at 11:00 AM, with Military Honors to follow.
