Jim Frank McGraw's Obituary
Graveside services for Jim Frank McGraw, 87, of Longview will be held at 1 PM Wednesday, November 8, 2017, at Lakeview Memorial Gardens under the direction of Rader Funeral Home of Longview. Mr. McGraw passed away on Saturday morning at his home in Longview. The family will receive friends Tuesday evening from 5-7 PM at the funeral home.
Jim was born August 8, 1930 in rural Kaufman County, Forney, Texas. The second son of Joe Bailey McGraw, SR and Myrtle DeGaugh McGraw. He graduated from Kilgore High School in 1949 and was married to Doris Lineberger Jackson on August 12, 1951. Jim pursued two careers” Military and Civilian. His civilian career was channeled toward Quality Assurance in a manufacturing environment. He became a Certified Quality Engineer (ASQC) and a registered professional engineer of quality. His military career began in the Texas National Guard in January of 1948, and after 7 years enlisted, accepted a direct commission from Congress as a second Lieutenant. He progressed through grades and assignments to retire in 1975 as a Major, United States Army Reserve. Jim also retired from Stemco Inc. after 22 years of service as Vice President, Product Performance.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Doris McGraw; and by his parents.
Those left to cherish his memory are his son and daughter-in-law Eddie and Glenda F. McGraw; two granddaughters Angela Jones and Jennifer Herridge and her husband Jonathan; one brother, Joe McGraw; one sister Margarette Allison; four great grandkids; and numerous nieces, nephews and a host of friends and neighbors.
