My son, who will be 57 this year, attended Mrs. Ballard Kiddie college. He cried every day when they took him out of the car. Then we discovered that if Ms. Tate came to the car he happily went with her. When we drove up, the black lady who normally retrieved them, went to get Ms Tate. I asked her how she worked the magic and she said, “One day when he was crying I slapped his behind and told him, Paul Bennett, I love you and I’m not putting up with this. After that he was mine.” He loved Ms. Tate and never forgot her. I sent him a copy of her obituary. He is now a Dallas attorney with twins, a girl and a boy.
It is not easy to know that a close friend passed away at the time you are thousands of miles away. I am trying to concentrate on what to write but for sure, whatsoever I write to express my true feelings due to the loss of my longtime friend Jewel Dawn Tate will not be enough.
I have been knowing Dawn and her husband Bobby since the year 1991 when I had a business to take care of in Tyler, Texas. Dawn was such a nice person, tender-hearted, caring and very generous.
I am deeply saddened and wish I could be with y‘all at this difficult time. The last time we have met was 4 months ago; February 15, 2024 when I was visiting Tyler, Texas.
My deepest condolences to her immediate family members for the great loss and my prayers that God’s words bring y’all comfort during this difficult time.
