Jesus R. Asence's Obituary
Rosary for Jesus R. Asence, 81, of Longview, will be recited 10 AM Monday, November 19, 2001 at St. Matthews Catholic Church, 2800 Pine Tree Rd.
Mass of Christian Burial will follow the rosary with Monsignor John Flynn as celebrant. Burial will be at the Holy Cross Memorial Park at Quezon City, Philippines. Arrangements are under the direction of Rader Funeral Home.
Mr. Asence died Friday morning, November 16, in Bossier City, LA.
He was born August 7, 1920 at Zamboanga City , Philippines to Fermin and Perfecta Rivero Asence.
He served proudly with the United States Army in the Asiatic/Pacific Theater during World War II as a member of the 57th Infantry Philippine Scouts and was a prisoner of war and a Bataan Death March survivor.
Mr. Asence was a salesman for the Philippine Refining Company and was an advertising foreman for the Philippine Pepsi Cola Company, salesman for Northern Motor Company of Manila, Philippines and was a counselor for the Saginaw County Health Department in Saginaw, MI and after his retirement he moved to Longview, TX and worked part-time as a people greeter at Walmart in Longview for 10 years.
Mr. Asence was a member of the St. Matthews Catholic Church.
He is survived by his son, Antonio Asence of the Philipines; daughters, Milagros A. Morales of the Philippines, Imelda A. Rosales of Anderson, Indiana, Victoria A. Noriel of Longview, Veronica A. Viray of the Philippines; sisters, Leonida Mendiola of the Philippines, Nena Asence of CA.; nine grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a son, Salvador Asence and a wife, Adelaida.
Family visitation will be 5-7 PM Sunday at Rader Funeral Home, 1617 Judson Rd.
Longview.
