Jessie Mae "Bom Bom" Schattel's Obituary
Jessie Mae “Bom Bom” Schattel of 97 years, went to the arms of the Lord July 26, 2015. She was surrounded by family in her last moment and immediately greeted in heaven by a host of family and friends. Services will be held in the Chapel of Rader Funeral Home on Wednesday, July29, 2015 at ten a.m. Burial will follow at Memory Park. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday. Mrs. Schattel passed away on Sunday, July 26, 2015.
Jessie was born January 2, 1918 in Kanawa, Simenole County, Oklahoma and came to Hallsville, Texas in 1968. She retired at age 84 from HISD after 34 years in the food service industry. She was a member of First Baptist Hallsville for 47 years.
Jessie was a loving and devoted mother, “Bom Bom”, and friend. There was always room at the table for one more and plenty of “Bom Bom rolls” to enjoy. She taught us that enjoying wonderful food together keeps a family close.
Those left to cherish her memory are sons, Bobby Schattel and O. C. “Butch” Schattel, daughter and son-in-law, Pam and Robert Butler. Grandchildren: Jan McClung of Longview, Shon Wood of Copper Canyon, Von and Kay Schattel of Hallsville, Jena and Roy Peck of Hallsville, Julie and Joe Duhon of Bossier City, LA, Chris Butler of Keller, Kristy and Tim Peavy of Meridian, MS. Great grandchildren: Shannon McClung White of Hallsville, Jennifer and Shane Bray of Liberty Hill, Jerrod and Sara McClung of Hallsville, Reagan Peck of Hallsville, Josh and Hollie Schattel of Roundrock, Eldri Johansen of New Orleans, LA, Courtney and Robert Kenney of Sanger, Morgan and Brady Holstead of Fort Worth, Jessie Wood of Lubbock, Christian Johansen of Bossier City, LA, Browning Peavy of Meridian, MS. Great great grandchildren: Kymber and Jordan Maglaris of Gilmer, Kyler McBride of Gilmer, Kaden Reed of Hallsville, Kallen Reed of Hallsville, Walker Bray of Liberty Hill, Porter Bray of Liberty Hill, Ronin Babin of New Orleans, LA, Carter McClung of Hallsville, Brant Kennedy of Sanger, Jaylee McClung of Hallsville, McKinley Kennedy of Sanger, Lincoln Bray of Liberty Hill.
Preceded in death by her husband Otto Schattel of 55 years, parents John Jasper and Sarah Francis Eads. Brothers: Floyd, John, Charley, and Delbert Eads. Daughters-in-law: Norma Schattel Avery, Mary Jo Schattel, and Sandy Schattel. Grandson Odis McClung and great grandson Justin Schattel.
