Memorial services for Jesse M. Newton, 83, will be held on Saturday, January 13, 2018 in the Ford Chapel of the First Baptist Church of Longview beginning at 4pm. A visitation will be held at Rader Funeral Home of Longview on Friday from 5-7pm. Jesse went to be with the Lord on Saturday, January 6, 2017 surrounded by his family.
Jesse Newton was born in Jacksonville FL to parents James and Maude Newton. He served his country faithfully in the US Navy, from which he retired after 23 years of service. He graduated from LeTourneau University with a Bachelor degree. Jesse was very active with the Longview Masonic Lodge, where he served as a previous grand master.
Jesse was a faithful man of God and served in the First Baptist Church choir for many years. Beyond all of these he was a husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather; he treasured all the time he got to spend with his family all these years.
Jesse was preceded in death by his parents, James and Maude Newton; sister, Bess Little; grandson Bobby Phillips III. Those left to cherish their memories of Jesse include his wife of 57 years, Carol M. Newton; children James Newton and wife Mary, Elizabeth Sherow and husband John, Martha Newton, and Mark Newton and wife Charlene; 7 grandchildren; and 6 great-grandchildren as well as numerous nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Masonic Lodge of Longview.
