Jesse Douglas “Doug” Dorris, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, brother, devoted friend, and skilled craftsman, was born on August 2, 1944, in Coffeeville, Mississippi, to parents Murry Morgan Dorris and Lura Summers Dorris. He passed away peacefully, surrounded by his loving family, on January 16, 2026, leaving behind a legacy of hard work, love, and laughter.
Doug was a proud high school graduate of Coffeeville High, in Coffeeville, Mississippi. He dedicated his career to welding, applying his talents at Komatsu for 60 years, where he was known for his meticulous craftsmanship and unwavering work ethic. In 60 years, he only took 2 sick days!
A cherished member of the Lake Cherokee, Henderson, Texas community, Doug was the beloved husband of Marie Ellison Dorris. They began their love story in Vicksburg, Mississippi, and will have been married 60 years in April. Together, they created a life rich in love, shared dreams, and joyous memories. His warm smile and kind spirit touched all who knew him, and he will be profoundly missed.
Doug is preceded in death by his parents, Murry and Lura Dorris, and sisters Cherry Pharr and Delainy Lee. He is survived by his loving wife, Marie Dorris, daughters: Pamela Sessums, Tammy Goza and husband Kevin, and Cindy Windham and husband Philip, along with 7 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren, his brothers, Murry Dorris and wife Sharon, Dale Dorris and wife Becky, and sisters Gwen Lawrence and Lafaye House.
In celebration of Doug’s life, a funeral service will be held in his honor at 2:00 PM on January 21, 2026, at the Chapel of Rader Funeral Home of Longview. Family and friends are invited to come together and celebrate the incredible person Doug was. The night prior to the service, a visitation will occur on January 20, 2026, from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM, at Rader Funeral Home in Longview, providing an opportunity for loved ones to pay their respects and share in the joy of Doug's life.
