Jess Willard Berryman's Obituary
Funeral services for Jess Willard Berryman, 91, of Longview will be held at 2 PM Friday, January 4, 2013 in the Chapel of Rader Funeral Home of Longview with Rev. Scott Schulik officiating. Burial will follow in Memory Park. Mr. Berryman passed away on Tuesday, January 1, at his home in Longview. The family will receive friends Friday afternoon from 1-2 PM prior to the service.
Mr. Berryman was born on August 7, 1921, in Bloomberg, Texas. He joined the Air Force in 1942 and participated in the invasion of Africa, Sicily, Italy and France, and he received a Bronze Star and Legion of Merit. He came to Longview in 1945 and attended LeTourneau to learn welding. He met and married his wife Helen, in 1947. They went on to raise three daughters who were the joy of his life. He also had six grandchildren, nine great grandchildren, and one great-great grandchild. He worked for Texas Eastman for 34 years, and after retiring, he and Helen loved traveling with their RV club across the US.
Those left to cherish his memory are his wife, Helen Berryman of Longview; his daughters and sons-in-law, Sharon Bullok of McKinney, Susan and Roger Thomas of Longview, and Vickie and Alton Coley of Longview. His grandchildren and their spouses, Tammy Sookma of McKinney, Todd Dirksen of Tyler, Bridget Edward and Curt of Longview, Erin Ramey and Will of Longview, Jay Thomas and Becky of Longview, and Clint Coley of Longview.
