Jerry W. Harp's Obituary
Jerry Wayne Harp made his heavenly journey to be with his Lord and Savior on Monday, February 14, 2011. His memorial service will be held on Thursday, February 17, 2011, 10:00 a.m., at Longview Missionary Baptist Church, 800 East Loop 281, with Bro. Nathan Rogers officiating. The family will receive guests following the service.
He was born July 17, 1941, in Kilgore, Texas, to B.F. "Frank" and Gladys Harp. He was a resident of Longview, Texas. He graduated from Longview High School in 1959. He married Patricia Apperson in 1960. They were blessed with 50 years of marriage and three children. He was employed at Texas Eastman Chemical for 11 years and in 1975 he established his own business, Harps House of Arts, where did photography and wildlife art. He eventually fulfilled his lifelong dream to be a full time artist. He enjoyed time with his wife, family and his favorite hobbies, hunting and fishing. He was a member of Longview Missionary Baptist Church where for years he served as head usher.
He is preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his wife, Pat Harp, children, Tony and Dianne Harp of Longview, Angie and Dan Mauldin of Hallsville, and Chris and Paula Harp of Longview, grandchildren, Mandy Browne, Jeremy Harp, Brooke Hopkins, Lacy McMillon, Collin Harp and Conner Harp, great grandchildren, Mackenzie Oney, Hunter Oney, Briley Hopkins, sister, Barbara Richie, and a host of other relatives and friends.
In lieu of flowers the family requests that memorial donations be made to the Jerry Harp Memorial Fund, c/o Longview Missionary Baptist Church.
