JERRY WAYNE CURRIER
Services for Jerry Wayne Currier, 65, of Longview, Texas will be 2 p.m. Thursday, March 3, 2011, in the Chapel of Rader Funeral Home of Longview. Burial will follow in Rosewood Park Cemetery. Mr. Currier passed away Monday morning, February 28, 2011, shortly after being admitted to Beacon Hospice at Margaret's House in Longview.
Jerry was born August 9, 1945 in Center, Texas, where he graduated from Center High School and immediately volunteered to serve in the Army. He received basic training at Fort Polk, LA and spent the next 9 years of his life serving his country. He served 3 tours of duty in Viet Nam, 2 tours in Korea and 2 years in Germany, and received an honorable discharge in 1966 from Fort Gordon, GA. He was employed as an industrial painter prior to last illness.
Jerry was preceded in death by his grandparents, William Henry Currier, Sr. of Stephenville, Texas and William and Nina Scott of Center, Texas, as well as his father, William Henry Currier, Jr.; his step-father, Early E. Snider of Longview and one son, Stephen Scott Currier.
Jerry is survived by his mother, Nita Snider of Longview, three sons - Jerry Wayne Currier, Jr. and wife, Linda Currier and children of Arizona; William Tracy Currier and wife, Trish and children of New Baltimore, MI and Doug Howard Currier and wife, Becky and children of Arizona; two brothers - Randall Scott Snider of Longview, Kirk E. Snider of Gilmer and sister - Vickie Ogilvie of Kerrville, Texas; three step-children, Patrick O'Brien, Travis Traeger and Brandi Traeger, all of Longview. He is survived by 10 grand-children and 3 great-grandchildren.
The family would like to acknowledge the wonderful care provided by Beacon Hospice at Margaret's House, the dedication of Dr. Margaret Schottstaedt and acts of loving kindness shown by home health nurse Robin Dawson and the staff and nurses in A-Wing at Margaret's House, Stephanie Hooks, Rhen Pearson, Linda Clark and Carrie Whitaker.
