Jerry Ross Martin
Funeral services for Jerry Ross Martin, 77, of White Oak, TX will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, December 10, 2011 in the Chapel of Rader Funeral Home of Longview. Burial will follow in White Oak Cemetery. He passed away Thursday, November 8, at Margaret's House in Longview.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
Mr. Martin was born May 7, 1934 in Cherokee County, TX to John Ross and Lorene Martin and was a longtime resident of the White Oak area. He enjoyed a long career as an operator with Texas Eastman and was a member of the Cumberland Presbyterian Church in Concord, TX. Mr. Martin enjoyed the simple pleasures of life, such as hunting, fishing, camping and gardening. He loved his family unconditionally and enjoyed a close relationship with his brother and sister, his children and grandchildren and especially his loving wife of 57 years. He not only loved his family, but his friends were a very special part of his life.
Mr. Martin was a veteran of the U. S. Army and served in Germany and during the Cuban Crisis.
Those left to cherish his memory are his loving wife, Billie Martin of White Oak; daughter and son-in-law, Joni and Tim Lindsey of Longview; son and daughter-in-law, Kelly and Melinda Martin of Union Grove; his grandchildren, Austin Lindsey, Ross Lindsey and John Ross Martin; brother and sister-in-law, Eddie and Harriett Martin; sister and brother-in-law, Jackie and Ken Baird; and several nieces and nephews.
