Jerry LaFayette Marlar, a distinguished leader and beloved family man, passed away on March 28th, 2024, in Longview, Texas, at the age of 79. Born on October 9th, 1944, in Sheffield, Alabama, Jerry's life was marked by a remarkable journey of professional achievements and deep personal connections and a strong faith in God.
Jerry's professional career spanned continents, reflecting his extraordinary leadership and expertise. He served as the President of Dow Corning Wright America in Memphis and Dow Corning Europe and Asia in the picturesque South of France, where his visionary leadership left an indelible mark. Later, he took on pivotal roles as the President of Sulzer Orthopedics in the Americas and as CEO of Sulzer Biologics, both based in Austin, Texas, where his innovative spirit and commitment to excellence thrived.
Beyond his successful career in the corporate world, Jerry found fulfillment in serving his community and faith. He was Executive Pastor at the First Evangelical Free Church in Austin, Texas, where his compassionate heart and unwavering faith touched the lives of many until he retired to Longview Texas.
Jerry's greatest source of pride and joy was his family. He shared 55 beautiful years of marriage with his beloved wife, Ginger Marlar. Together, they raised two loving children, Regan Carlile, married to Zach Carlile and Jason Marlar, married to Mirella Marlar. Jerry's legacy of integrity, kindness, and perseverance extended to his cherished grandchildren, Virginia Hamilton married to Cole Hamilton, Quinton Carlile, Hampton Carlile, Victoria Marlar, and James Marlar, and will be passed on to his great-granddaughter, Josephine Hamilton all of whom he cherished.
Jerry will be remembered for his unwavering faith in Jesus, his passion for life, and his profound love for his family. His impact on those who knew him is immeasurable, and his memory will continue to shine brightly in the hearts of all who were fortunate enough to have known him.
A celebration honoring Jerry's life will be held at Rader Funeral Home in Longview on April 5th,2024 at 10am in Longview TX.
