Jerry Lynn Farrar
After a courageous battle with cancer, Jerry Lynn Farrar, 57, died on January 18, 2003, surrounded by many of his closest friends.
Jerry was born May 1, 1945, in Gladewater, Texas. He graduated from Gladewater High School in 1963, and acquired degrees from Kilgore College and Texas State Technical Institute. He was an employee of Stroh?s Brewery of Longview for 35 years.
Jerry will be remembered by his friends for his devoted love for amateur radio. He was a long-time member of the Longview/East Texas Amateur Radio Club and an active volunteer for Gregg County Emergency Communications and the American Red Cross, in which he contributed his knowledge of communications to the service of his community.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Katheryn Willingham Farrar and his father, Melvin Farrar. He is survived by his brother, Jimmie Farrar of Myrtle Beach, South Carolina; 3 nieces and 1 nephew. He is also survived by his extended family; John Baker, Darrell Toland, Clay Richardson and Dianne Wright, and special friends; Jeff and Jackie Jones, Jim Rogers, Tom Noe, and Gail Rigsby.
Funeral services will be held at 10 AM Tuesday, January 21, in the Chapel of Rader Funeral Home of Longview, with Pastor Mike Brittain officiating. Burial will follow at Rosewood Park on FM 1844 in Judson. Pallbearers will be: Larry Morgan, Jeff Jones, Joe Fette, Robert Braack, Phil Langford and Adron Dunnavant.
