Jerry Allen King's Obituary
Jerry Allen King’s journey to heaven began in Long Beach, California on November 6, 1943, when he was born into the family of R.B. and Mavis King. His travels on this earth concluded on April 16, 2023, in Longview, Texas. Jerry lived a full life that included a marriage of 55 years to the love of his life, the beautiful Linda Jane Hudspeth. Before the union of these two, as a teenager he worked for Brookshire’s Grocery Company. Immediately following graduation from Longview High School in 1961, Jerry served in the United States Air Force spending the majority of his service in Germany. While there, he helped form a band that performed on base and in other venues in the area. Upon returning from the Air Force, Jerry hired on with Texas Eastman where he worked in Material and Handling until retiring after 33 years at the age of 55. Because of his love for music and golf he took on two part time positions for over 20 years-Director of Music at Valley View Baptist Church and Attendant at the Front Desk of Wood Hollow Golf Course.
Jerry was preceded in death by his wife Linda, his parents R.B. and Mavis King, brother Ronnie, and sister-in-law Glynda King. Jerry is survived by his brother Bobby, brother Teddy and wife Cynthia, numerous nephews and nieces and a host of friends.
Special thanks goes to all the caregivers of Alpine House Assisted Living whom Jerry grew to love dearly, to Marshall Hospice of East Texas for their loving care in his final days. In addition, the family would like to especially thank Susan and Harold Wayne Hill, Gayla McGuire, Joel McGuire and their families for all the love, care and support they have shown our brother and his family.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in memory of Jerry to Valley View Baptist Church in Longview, Texas.
