Jerome Clifford Waits' Obituary
Jerome Clifford Waits, 84, of Longview, was called home to be with the Lord on December 10, 2023, in Longview, Texas. Born on July 18, 1939, in Chalk Hill, Jerome was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend.
Jerome is survived by his loving wife, Elva Lee Waits, and their children, Kim Thompson, Pam Randolph, and Jerome Todd Waits. Sons-in-law Ken Thompson and Craig Randolph. He was a cherished grandfather to Corey Thompson, and wife Krystle, Casey Thompson and wife Heather, Cody Jerome Thompson, Mason Todd Waits, Lindsey Lee Randolph Eder and husband Bobby Eder. And great-grandfather to Paison Waits, Emalee Waits, Nathan Waits, Adalyn Thompson, Kenslee Thompson, Coraline Thompson, Tesla Wallingford, Tyson Wallingford and grand dog Tanner Thompson.
Jerome was preceded in death by his father, Angus Waits, his mother Lois Waits, and his brother and sister-in-law Ronald and Sue Waits.
Jerome graduated from Longview High School, class of 1957, and went on to have a successful career at Kodak Eastman, where he dedicated 33 years of service. In his last 8 years at Kodak, Jerome served as shift supervisor of the polyethylene department. He was known for exceptional electrical skills, his passion for fishing, and talent in woodworking. Jerome enjoyed working on various projects, including Joker Wild boards and frames.
Jerome found solace and peace in his faith and was an active member of Mobberly Baptist Church. His devotion to his church family was inspirational, and he found comfort in worship.
In his younger years, Jerome played Lobo football from 1954 to 1957 earning the nickname “Little Stick of Dynamite” under the guidance of Coach Hawkins.
A memorial service will be held at Rader Funeral Home Chapel in Longview, Texas on December 14th at 10:00 AM. Visitation will be held at 9:00 AM before the service. The burial will be immediately afterwards at Rosewood Park in Longview, Texas.
Jerome Clifford Waits will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him. May his memory be a blessing and he rest in eternal peace.
