Jeannette C. Spring's Obituary
A memorial service will be held for Jeannette C. Spring, 93, at Rader Chapel in Longview on Wednesday, December 2 at 2 p.m., conducted by Rev. Jonathan Jehorek. Visitation will take place from 1-2 p.m. at the Chapel. Burial will take place at Lakeview Memorial Gardens following the service.
Jeannette passed away peacefully at her home in Bellevue, Washington. A native of Georgetown, Texas, Jeannette resided in Longview from 1947-1997. She then moved to Bellevue, WA. and spent the rest of her life close to her daughter, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Longview and then the First Presbyterian Church of Bellevue. Jeannette was born on October 30, 1916 in Georgetown, Texas to Philip and Ruth Carlson. She graduated from Georgetown High School in 1934, attended business school in Georgetown for a year, and then nursing school at Brackenridge Hospital in Austin, Texas from 1935-1938. Her degree was in Nursing Arts. In 1941 she married Jerrold Baker Spring of Luling at her home in Georgetown. He was a 1st Lieutenant in the Air Force and a graduate of the University of Texas College of Pharmacy in Austin. Their only child, Kay, was born in 1944. Jeannette worked as a nurse in different hospitals and later at Gregg nursing Home.
Survivors include one daughter, Kay Owen of Bellevue, WA; three grandchildren, Laura Weatherhogge and husband Scott; James M. Owen, Jr. and wife Emma; Jerrold Owen and wife Jennie, all of the Seattle area; nine great grandchildren, all in the Seattle area; two sisters, Helen Ferrell of Longview, Texas and Waldine Pokorny of Austin, Texas; and a number of nieces and nephews. Mom and Monnie, as her grand and great grandchildren called her, will be greatly missed.
