Jean Ramey Harrison's Obituary
Jean Ramey Harrison, 69, of Longview, TX, took her place in heaven on Monday, February 7th following a brief illness. A debilitating disease, Multiple Sclerosis, limited Jean?s physical capacities over 40 years but never sapped her spirit or diminished her ability to enjoy life. Services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, February 11, 2005 at the First Methodist Church in Longview with Rev. Dan Miller and Rev. David Lindwall officiating. Burial will follow at Memory Park Cemetery in Longview under direction of Rader Funeral Home.
Mrs. Harrison was born July 10, 1935 in Henderson, Texas to James Richard and Josephine White Ramey and subsequently moved to Longview in 1942. A 1953 graduate from Longview High School, Mrs. Harrison attended Kilgore Junior College where she was a member of the Kilgore Rangerettes. Following Kilgore, she married her husband John W. Harrison Jr. in 1953. She worked for Dr. Charles Gay, MD and the Family Medical Group. After serving as Deputy Clerk at the Gregg County Tax Assessors Office, she retired with 10 years of service. She was an active member of The First United Methodist Church of Longview. Her charitable nature found expression as a member of the Junior League of Longview. Jean loved to cook, attending musicals, and traveling with her husband. She was very devoted to her children and grandchildren and loved her little dog Oliver.
She is survived by her husband of 51 years, John W. Harrison, Jr. of Longview; four children, David Harrison and wife Elizabeth of East Greenwich, Rhode Island, Carole Harrison Cahill and husband Mark of Dallas, James ?Kelly? Harrison of Lufkin, and Martha Harrison Collier and her husband Kyle of Longview. She had three grandchildren, Rachel Collier and Alyson Collier of Longview and Alexander Harrison of East Greenwich. She also had numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. Jean and her family were especially grateful for the daily care provided by Lillian Fambles, Mable Smith and Sandra Barnes. Her parents and her sister Ann Ramey Prewitt preceded her in death.

The family will receive friends from 6 pm to 8 pm on Thursday at Rader Funeral Home in Longview.
