Jean Bachtel's Obituary
A Memorial service will be held at Rader Funeral Home on January 2 2018 at 2:00 for Jean Bachtel who died peacefully in her home on December 27.
Jean was born in Winnipeg, Canada on June 3, 1933 but returned to the US as an infant. She grew up in South Charleston, West Virginia which is where she met her husband Charles (Chic). They married in October 1951.
After finishing dental school in Louisville, Kentucky, Chic brought Jean and their three small children to Texas, moving to Longview in 1962.
Quickly becoming a contributing member of the community, Jean served for several years in the Junior Service League and later joined the Mentor Services of Pine Tree.
Jean and Chic loved to travel around the US and Europe, loved Broadway musicals, and both were big film buffs. She was a very talented interior decorator and an avid reader.
Jean was preceded in death by her son, David, and her husband, Chic. She is survived by her brother, Bruce Gillies, in Tennessee, her two daughters, Allyson Stephenson in Longview and Debrah Nations in Dallas. She is also survived by three granddaughters Danielle, Lorna and Kendra and great grandson Will.
