Mrs. Janie Margaret Snipes' Obituary
Janie Margaret Fennell Snipes, 77, went home to be with the Lord on
December 31, 2013. Jane Passed away peacefully, at home, surrounded by family.
Jane was born on December 24, 1936, in the Soules Chapel Community near Gilmer, Texas. She graduated from Harmony High School in 1954 where she was an avid basketball player. Janie was described as the life of the party by her precious sister and friend, Mary Lou.
Jane married Claude David Snipes on December 26, 1953. They became loving parents to three daughters. She was a resident of Longview, Texas and active member of Greggton United Methodist Church for over fifty years. She taught preschool classes and also enjoyed working with young children at Pine Tree Primary School for fifteen years. However, her favorite and most valued work was as a wife, mother, grandmother and homemaker.
Jane was preceded in death by her parents and brothers, Jack and Eddy.
She is survived by, and lives through, her beloved husband of sixty years, David, daughters Cindy, Vikki and Karen, sons-in-law Jim Coker, Wayne Sneed and Joe Bullock. She is also survived by eight grand children and nine great grand children, sisters Mary Lou Stuckey and Gay Castloo, brother Jerry Fennell and his wife Alice, and sister-in-law Wanda Fennell as well as numerous nephews and nieces.
The family would like to extend heartfelt thanks to our hospice family, Beacon Hospice, for the loving care they provided to us and to Jane during her final months and request that in lieu of flowers, memorials be made to Beacon Hospice. A very special thanks goes to other personal caregivers Mary Stuckey, Dennis and Jan Gronewald and Susie Woods.
The family has scheduled a celebratory memorial service on Saturday, January 4, 2014 at noon at Greggton United Methodist Church.
