Janie Sue-Birdwell Sledge's Obituary
Janie Sue Birdwell Sledge, 67, of Henderson, Tx, passed away on Friday, March 15, 2019, at around 2:10 am at Henderson Memorial Hospital.
Janie was born to John Henry Birdwell and Mable Catherine Birdwell, October 24, 1951, in Henderson, TX. She graduated from West Rusk High School in 1970. She married John William Sledge, Jr on May 24, 1970, and was married for 48 years. They made their home in Henderson, TX where together they raised 2 children, 6 grandchildren, and welcomed their first great grandson in November 9, 2018.
She was preceded in death by her father, John Henry Birdwell, Sister Betty A. Somerville and son-in-law Chris E. Reed.
She leaves as her legacy her children: David J. Sledge and Spouse Amanda Sledge of Henderson, TX and Tracie L Reed and (late) spouse Chris E. Reed of Houston, TX. She also leaves to cherish her memory: Mother, Mable Catherine Birdwell of Henderson, TX, Brother: John H. Birdwell, Jr. and spouse Kathy Birdwell of Granbury, TX, Brother-in-Law Neil M. Somerville of Longview, TX; Grandchildren: Zachari L. Jackson of Lake Charles, LA, Amberly L. Jackson of Tyler, TX, Chase W. McGill of Henderson, TX, Trinity R. Sledge of Henderson, TX, Adriana S. McGill of Houston, TX, Cy C. Sledge of Henderson, TX, and Great-Grandson: Caysen J. McGill of Henderson, TX.
Janie was extremely supportive and passionate about her family and lived her life to the fullest through her children and grandchildren. She showed her bravery and strength through her fight with Pancreatic Cancer the last 9 months. She will be forever cherished and missed by not only her family but also by her friends.
A private service was done on Sunday, March 17, 2019 at Rader Funeral Home. There are no additional services to be held. In lieu of any flowers or food please send donations to American Cancer Society and East Texas Hospice in memory of Janie.
