Janie Adams' Obituary
Janie Adams age 55 passed away suddenly April 25, 2012 at Good Shepherd Hospital in Longview with family by her side.
She was born October 28, 1956 in Dallas, TX to Frank and Jeanne Baker. Growing up, Janie attended schools in Mesquite, TX. After graduating from high school, she moved to Charlotte, NC to attend Queens College. Later, Janie moved to Longview and made Lake Cherokee her home. Along with her beloved husband Gary, who passed away in February of this year, she founded Adams Rib where she developed the catering part of the business. Janie loved to cook, was an avid reader, loved to travel and enjoyed time at the beach and on the water. Janie devoted her time and energy as a caregiver, mentor and surrogate mother to anyone in need. If Janie could speak to the world right now, she would remind us, "Live life to the fullest and love one another."
Janie is survived by her loving children, daughters Leslie and husband Trey Patton, Dr. Megan McKenry, Trae Adams, Annabelle Adams, and son Nick Clayton. Janie is also survived by grandchildren Trinity and Teagan Patton, sisters Sally and her husband Will Nowling, Suzie and her husband Joe Duncan, mother Jeanne Witchie Baker, her beloved dog Skye, numerous nieces and nephews and a large adopted family whom she loved as her own.
She is preceded in death by her beloved husband of 29 years, Gary Adams and father, Frank Baker.
There will be a celebration of her life Sunday, April 29, 2012 at the Cherokee Water Company Office; NK 20 Lake Cherokee starting at 3pm. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Trinity School of Texas, 215 Teague ST. Longview, TX 75601 or the Humane Society of Northeast Texas; 303 Enterprise St. Longview, TX 75604. Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Rader Funeral Home, Longview.
