Janice Joy Reed Mills' Obituary
Janice Joy Reed Mills was born on January 23, 1942 in Harlingen, Texas to Hershel and Edna Reed. She entered her heavenly home on April 6, 2023.
Janice married James Lee Mills, the love of her life, on October 2, 1959.
Janice was a unique individual and lived life on her terms. She was affectionately called Granny, Granny Gruesome and Grannysaurus. She loved shopping for .... well, anything and everything, but she especially loved going to Round Top twice a year, as evidenced by the many, many antiques she collected over the years. She took pride in the beautiful home Dad built for her. Having become a master gardener, she loved flowers and plants and their yard was her showcase. She really enjoyed traveling and over the years had the opportunity to travel to Paris, Alaska, Hawaii and many other amazing destinations.
After 30 years of service as the manager of Amoco East Texas Credit Union, she retired in 2013.
Janice is preceded in death by her husband, James Mills; her parents; three sisters, Judy, Debbie and Cindy; and one brother, Danny.
She is survived by three children: Pam (Johnny) Carey, Jimmy (Melonie) Mills, and Amy (Kim) Mills; four grandchildren: Adam (Marissa) Carey, Laura (Ross) Smith, Andy (Sarah) Carey, and Madison Copeland; and nine great grandchildren, who she adored. She is also survived by sister, Sandy Williams, and many nephews and nieces.
We love you and we will miss you. Don't forget to give Dad a hug from all of us.
Visitation will be held at Rader Funeral Home on April 11, 2023 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Graveside services will be on April 12, 2023 at noon at Old White Oak Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Jude's Children's Hospital.
