Janice Maurice "Tubb" Ikeler's Obituary
Janice Maurice (Tubb) Ikeler, of White Oak, Texas, was born on October 9, 1935, in Big Spring, Texas, and at the age of 90 entered into the presence of her Lord and Savior on June 4, 2026.
Janice was preceded in death by her husband of 42 years, Dennis Harlon Ikeler; her parents, Bertha (Johnson) Tubb and Henry Franklin Tubb; and her five siblings Donnie Tubb, Bonnie (Tubb) Barber, Helen (Tubb) Faulkner, Billy Tubb, and Larry Tubb.
Janice married Thomas Edward Jones in 1954 and together they welcomed three sons: Tommy Dale, Bobby Joe, and Dennis Ray. She later married Dennis Harlon Ikeler, and they were blessed with a son, Darin Duane Ikeler. Through this marriage she also lovingly gained stepchildren Dennis Jr. and Debbie.
A devoted homemaker, Janice, poured her life into raising her four boys. They knew their mother expected much from them, but they also knew she would fiercely defend them when needed - such as the day she chased an adult neighbor down the street with a baseball bat after he wrongly pushed Tommy. The families later reconciled, and the couples enjoyed years of playing cards together. Janice and Dennis shared a love for dominos, cards and joker marbles, and many evenings were spent around the table in laughter and friendly competition.
Janice lived in several Texas cities, with her longest years in Big Spring, Odessa and White Oak. While in Odessa, she began driving a school bus for Ector County Public School District. She became a favorite to the children who affectionately called her "Mrs. J". Her years driving the special-needs route were especially meaningful to her, and she often said those were her favorite days behind the wheel.
An accomplished bowler, Janice enjoyed playing in leagues throughout the years. Her greatest joy though was attending church and leading her family to love Jesus. She treasured God's Word and kept a cherished collection of Bibles and Christian reference books.
A few years after the passing of her beloved husband, Dennis, Janice made her home with her son, Dennis Ray Jones, who devotedly cared for her and shared his home with her for many years in White Oak.
Janice leaves behind a loving family that includes her four sons—Tommy Jones of Coweta, OK; Bobby Jones (Kamelle) of Broken Arrow, OK; Dennis Jones of White Oak, TX; and Darin Ikeler (Rusti) of Carrollton, TX. She was blessed with nine grandchildren and nine great‑grandchildren: Justin Jones (Shelli) and daughter Miriam; Jason Jones; Brett Jones (Danielle) and daughters Riley, Colbie, and Penny; Bryan Jones (Kaori); Blake Jones (Emma) and children Ava and Jack; Tara Bishop (Chris) and son Parker; Montana Lloyd (Lee) and son Hudson; Kelsey Ikeler and daughter River; and Jordan Ikeler. She is also remembered with affection by her nieces and nephews.
Memorial services will be held for Janice Ikeler on Saturday, June 13, 2026, in the Chapel of Rader Funeral Home, Longview, TX at noon. Charitable donations can be made to Alzheimer's Association or Samaritans Purse.
