Janet Lynn Meredith's Obituary
Janet Lynn Wade Meredith passed away on October 20, 2011. Jan was born May 14, 1946, the daughter of Mary Sinclair Wade and Samuel Wade. She married Thomas R. Meredith February 1980 in Aspen, Colorado. Tom died in 1992.
Jan grew up in Longview, graduated from Longview High School in 1964, and attended Kilgore College. She was employed by Texas Eastman for 13 years, and then worked for several years in real estate sales. Jan and her husband, Tom, were members of Trinity Episcopal Church.
A beautiful, smart, and energetic woman, Jan loved to read, to travel, and to play Mexican Train with her friends. She created beauty in her home and yard, and she took great pleasure in her surroundings. Jan was fearless and completely tenacious in her loyalty to friends and family, and she showed those around her how to enjoy every day to the fullest. Her bright smile, quick wit, and generous spirit will be terribly missed by those who loved her.
In addition to Tom, Jan was preceded in death by her parents, her nephew Christian Pyles, grandson Blake Thomas Kilgore, grandparents Mr. and Mrs. J. W. Sinclair, uncles Alfred Sinclair and Boyd Sinclair, and aunt Modene Sinclair.
Those left to cherish her memory are her loving companion and friend, Jack Ward; her sister Sue and husband Wyley Biggs; niece Traci and husband Neal Fussell; nephew Stephen Hestand; great-niece Keeli Pyles; twin great-nieces Addison and Elise Fussell; great-niece Ayla Hestand; great-nephew Logan Hestand; aunt Bennie Sinclair; step-daughter Laura and husband Dr. Brian Kilgore; and grandsons Brent Coleman Kilgore, Jeffrey Marshall Kilgore, and Russell Wade Kilgore.
A memorial service celebrating Jan's life will be at 4 PM on Saturday, October 22, 2011 at Trinity Episcopal Church with Reverend Shanna Neff and Reverend Mike Maxwell officiating. Interment will follow at Oak Wood Cemetery in Waco, Texas, at 12 Noon on Monday, October 24, 2011, when Jan will be buried next to her beloved Tom.
For the compassionate care they provided, Jan requested that sincere appreciation be expressed to Dr. Larry Frase and to the medical professionals and volunteers at Longview Cancer Center, Good Shepherd Medical Center, and Beacon Hill Hospice.
She also requested that those wishing to honor her memory do so by making a conscientious effort to help someone in need or to make a contribution to the Butterfly Fund at Good Shepherd Foundation, 700 E. Marshall Avenue, Longview, TX 75601; to Beacon Hospice, 5016 Gilmer Road, Longview, TX 75604; or to a charity of choice.
