Janell Toler Stone's Obituary
Janell Toler Stone was born on November 10, 1932 (on her mother’s birthday) in Longview, TX the first child of Dot (Davis) Toler and James Thomas Toler II. She passed away on March 28, 2019 after a tough fight with esophageal cancer.
She graduated from Judson Grove High School in Longview, TX in 1950. One of her best friends at school was Elizabeth Stone (Stokes Forcher) who had a brother, Robert. Janell and Robert Stone married in 1952 and had four children: Keith, Dawn, Kent, and Kirk.
Janell was a character. One of a kind. She knew how she wanted things (including calling all her kids by their middle names) and never backed down from a fight. She was such a beautiful woman and person. She didn’t even realize how quick her wit was. It was just her nature to make people laugh, smile, and think -- especially with her Facebook posts. She lovingly raised her children to be productive adults. She loved league bowling, had a love/hate relationship with the Texas Rangers, and would never even consider living anywhere but Longview. She made an impression on everyone she met and she could strike up a conversation and make friends with people in all walks of life.
Janell was preceded in death by her parents and her brother, Donald Lee Toler. She is survived by her four children, Keith Stone (Linda), Dawn Stone (Gifford Hesketh), Kent Stone (Pam Dillard Langford), and Kirk Stone (Mark Coker); her four grandchildren, Ryder Hesketh, Chris Coker (Stasha), Carla Purcell (Jimmy), Julie Gentry (Jamie); her great-grandchildren, Emma Purcell, Rylie Gentry, Nora Coker, and Clara Coker; her brother James Thomas Toler III (DeDe), and numerous cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends.
A memorial service for Janell will be held on Saturday, April 6th from 2:00pm-4:00pm in the chapel at Rader Funeral Home. The family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to the Hospice of East Texas – especially Jamie Benson and Jessica Hensley - and asks that you please consider the Hospice when making a donation in Janell’s memory.
