Jane was born on February 28, 1967 in Thibodaux, LA to Mark and Loretta Roy. She was a graduate of E.D. White High School in Thibodaux and Louisiana Tech, in Ruston, LA, with Degrees in Animal Science and Elementary Education. She loved kids and teaching them. Her career spanned over 23 years from kindergarten to 3rd grade, most recently teaching at St. Mary’s Catholic School in Longview for the past 5 years. She loved being a positive influence in their lives and was a wonderful teacher. Mrs. Tassin loved animals as well. She was passionate about her horses and dogs, but above all that, she loved her family. She was a loving wife and mother and loved taking care of her family by being the best homemaker and cook. Jane had a special talent for arranging flowers, a gift that she enjoyed sharing with family and friends by gifting her services for many weddings and special occasions. Mrs. Tassin also loved traveling with and spending time with her family, especially outdoors. Together they took many trips and enjoyed hiking, 4 wheeling, and just being together in God’s creation. She will be greatly missed.
Those left to cherish her memory are her loving husband of over 22 years, Darryl Tassin; her daughter, Loretta Anne Tassin; her mother, Loretta Caplis Roy; her brothers, Dr. Mark J. Roy, III and his wife Theresa, and Joseph C. Roy; her sister, Margaret Roy Constant and her husband Chet; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her father, Dr. Mark Joseph Roy, Jr; her paternal grandparents Col. Mark J. Roy and Jane Gillespie Roy; maternal grandparents Joseph E. Caplis, Sr. and Antoinette Serwich Caplis; and great nephew Greyson James Landry. She was also preceded in death by her father-in-law and mother-in-law, Otis J. and Janie K. Tassin.
The family request that in lieu of flowers, memorial donation be made to St. Mary’s Catholic School.
