Mary Jane Winzer Smith
Mary Jane Winzer Smith, age 85 of Longview passed away on March 14, 2013. She was born in Dallas on June 22, 1927 to the late Dorothy Davis and Maurice M. Winzer. Jane graduated from Highland Park High School in Dallas and graduated Phi Beta Kappa from University of Texas-Austin in 1948. She was an active member of the Kappa Alpha Theta Sorority. Jane was married to the late Frank J. Smith on August 5, 1947, and they moved to Longview in 1950. She was active in the Longview Junior League where she served as secretary and in the Camellia Garden Club. She also enjoyed many years with her bridge club. Jane was a member of Oakland Heights Baptist Church for the past 45 years and was always involved in the children's ministry.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, March 19, 2013 in the Rosewood Park Mausoleum Chapel with the Reverend Kevin Bright officiating. Entombment will follow under the direction of Rader Funeral Home of Longview.
Visitation will be from 5:30 to 7:00 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
Jane is survived by two sons, Mike Smith and wife Mary Bob Smith of Longview and Mark Smith and wife Diane Smith of Longview and by two granddaughters, Jennifer Rose Smith of Austin, and Mary Winzer Smith Van Delden and husband Stuart Van Delden of Corsicana. She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother and will be missed by all. The family is grateful to all the caregivers that assisted Jane in the latter years of her life providing her the best care and many joyful days.
