James Ray Wedgeworth
James Ray Wedgeworth of Longview, died Friday, October 3, 2014 after a lengthy battle with cancer. Services will be held Tuesday, October 7th at 2pm in the Chapel of Rader Funeral Home on Judson Road. Burial will be at Mount Hope cemetery North of Henderson.
Ray was born July 8, 1940, in Overton, Texas, to Hazel Motley and Emmit Wedgeworth. He graduated from Leverette's Chapel High School in 1958.
As a self-employed business man, Ray owned and operated R& W Barbque in Longview from 1962- 1984. Later he developed and operated R& W Catering Ranch North of Longview on Highway 300. He was a member of Oakland Heights Baptist Church.
Mr. Wedgeworth is survived by three daughters; Dee Ann Coker and her husband Jeffrey Coker of Longview, Joy Rae Johnson and her husband Mike as well as Jessica Harrison and her husband Joseph. Ray has two brothers and one sister. In addition, Ray has five granddaughters; Lela Kay Coker-Hammond, Grace Lunsford, Halle Harrison, Hillary Harrison and Hensley Harrison.
The family will receive friends from 1-2 pm on Tuesday, October 7th immediately preceding the service at 2.
