James W. "Dub" Pierce
Funeral services for James W. "Dub" Pierce, 85, of Longview will be held at 10 AM Tuesday, February 18, 2003 in the Chapel of Rader Funeral Home of Longview with the Reverend Phil Jones officiating. Burial will be in Memory Park Cemetery. He died Saturday, Feb. 15, at his residence.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 PM Monday at the funeral home.
Mr. Pierce was born April 26, 1916 in Marshall, Texas to William Wyatt and Martha Elizabeth Pierce. He was an active member of the First Christian Church of Longview, and a member of the Men?s Sunday School Class. He was owner/operator of Pierce Heating and Air Conditioning, Pierce Real Estate, and Pierce Construction Company. He was 33rd degree mason, and a member of the Longview Masonic Lodge #404, and very involved in Masonry. He was a Shriner, and a member of the Sharon Temple, and in 1976, was the Potentate. Dub was also a Scottish Rite and York Rite. He was a very big supporter of the Shriner?s Crippled Children?s Hospital and the Burn Institute. A US Army veteran of WWII, he was in the 504th Military Police Battalion and attended annual reunions.
Mr. Pierce was preceded in death by his wife of 53 years, Oletah Ford Pierce, and his daughter Nina Charleta Pierce.
Survivors include his daughter, Sally Ann Pierce of Clear Lake; son and daughter-in-law, James W. "Bill" and Linda Pierce of Salt Lake City; sister, Mae "Sister Mae" Griggs of California; 3 granddaughters; and 4 great grand children.
