James Vernon Melton's Obituary
James Vernon Melton, 79, of Longview passed away early Monday morning on August 29, 2011 with his family by his side. James was born on May 23, 1932 in Kilgore, Texas to Spivey Melton and Lorreta Drumond. Mr. Melton was a Christian man and veteran with the US Navy. He was the owner and operator of Melton Roofing and was a life long member of the BPO Elks.
James is survived by his loving wife of 60 years Ruth Melton of Longview; his four children, Jimi and his wife Debbie of Greenville, Texas, Kathy Bressler and her husband Mike of Allen, Texas, Fred Melton and his wife Theresa of Kilgore, Texas, Angela Camp and her husband Tony of Cooksville, Texas, brother-in-law Fred Frantz and wife Linda of Midland, Texas, eleven grandchildren and twelve great grandchildren several nieces and nephews. His childhood friend, Charlie Hines of Indianola, Iowa; life long friend, Joe Kucera of Winter Garden, Florida; and special neighbors Ginger and Howard Holland and Gene and Inez Haley.
The family will have a visitation on Wednesday August 31, 2011 from 6:00 to 8:00PM at Rader Funeral Home in Longview. No services are planned. In lieu of flowers the family asks that memorial donations be made to Wounded Warrior Project www.woundedwarriorproject.org.
