James Samuel Meadows' Obituary
James Samuel ?Sam? Meadows James Samuel ?Sam? Meadows passed away October 7, 2005, in Longview, Texas after a long illness. He was born June 6, 1926. Graveside services will be held at 1 p.m. Monday, October 10, at Huntington Cemetery in Huntington, TX under the direction of Rader Funeral Home of Longview with the Reverend Buford Shipley officiating. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 9, at the funeral home. Born in Bronson, Shelby County, Texas, the family moved to Longview where his father worked for and retired from Atlantic Pipeline Co. From high school he enlisted in the U. S. Navy, and after 7 years service he worked for Atlantic Pipeline in Huntington, where he met and married his wife Volette in December 1949. In March of 1952, he moved to Longview and began his career as a fireman, and retired June 30, 1989. He is survived by his wife Volette Williams Meadows of Longview; 6 children, daughters, Sheila Ridgeway and husband Jimmy of Rusk, Texas, Charlotte Mudd of Ore City, Shera Baker and husband Robert of Little Rock; sons, James Keith Meadows, Steven Meadows, and Stacy Meadows and wife Cathy; grandchildren, Kim McFadin, Nicole Moore, Karla Briggs, Joe and Summer Meadows, Josh and Adam Meadows, and Tyler and Megan Meadows; and 3 great grandchildren. The family would like to especially thank Dr. C. Rick Ernest and his staff for the wonderful care given. Also, to special friends Gerald Cubine, Mark Frederick and Ronnie Moore with the City of Kilgore who helped care for him.
